Hawara asks Sikhs to back SAD (A) chief

Patiala: Jagtar Singh Hawara, who has been lodged in jail in former CM Beant Singh assassination case, has sent a message for the Sikh community to support SAD (A) chief Simranjit Singh Mann in the Lok Sabha bypoll in Sangrur. Hawara, who was also announced interim Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht by Sarbat Khalsa in 2015, has sent the message to his father Gurcharan Singh, who further had disseminated it among the Sikh community. Gurcharan Singh, while speaking to TOI, said, “Jagtar Singh Hawara gave me his message from the jail and had supported Simranjit Singh Mann. The Badals’ have overpowered the years old Akali Dal and haven’t supported the Sikh community. However, now during elections, they want to use the name of Bandhi Singhs to increase their vote bank. Sukhbir had opposed the shifting of Jagtar Singh Hawara to the jails of Punjab.”
