Haryana youth shot dead, riddled with over 20 bullets outside his home in Jhajjar
JHAJJAR: In a chilling incident linked to an alleged gang rivalry, a young man was shot dead after armed assailants sprayed more than 20 bullets at him in Haryana’s Jhajjar late on Tuesday night.
The victim, identified as Hitesh alias Gullu, a resident of Subana village, was attacked outside his house while he was reportedly speaking on his mobile phone.
According to police, a Bolero SUV arrived near the victim’s residence and three to four armed men stepped out before opening indiscriminate fire. Investigators said around 20 to 25 rounds were fired in quick succession, leaving the victim critically injured on the spot. He succumbed to his injuries before he could receive medical treatment.
Eyewitnesses said the sound of continuous gunfire triggered panic across the village. The attackers allegedly fled the scene brandishing weapons moments after the murder, leaving residents terrified.
Police teams rushed to the spot after receiving information and shifted the blood-soaked victim to Jhajjar Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
A forensic team later collected evidence from the crime scene, including several empty bullet shells.
Preliminary investigation suggests the murder was the result of an old rivalry and possible gang-related enmity. Police officials said one suspect, identified as Dinesh Kumar from Girawarpur village, has been named during the investigation, and raids are underway to trace him.
DSP Dharna Yadav said the victim and the accused group had been involved in a long-standing dispute and that a firing incident targeting the accused side had also taken place a few days earlier.
“The assailants involved in the murder have been identified. Five special police teams have been formed to arrest them at the earliest,” the DSP said, adding that police are examining the criminal backgrounds and possible gang links of both groups.
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Machhrauli police station. Officials said the investigation is progressing swiftly and that the case could be solved soon.
