Haryana woman ‘blackmails’ soldier, booked

MOHALI: Police have registered a case against a woman for allegedly blackmailing a soldier and demanding money. The accused was identified as Priyanka, originally from a village in Bhiwani, Haryana.

Naveen, a soldier and a resident of Sonipat, Haryana, said two months back, Priyanka contacted him through Instagram and offered to get him a cheaper airline ticket for Chandigarh.

On Jan 8, Naveen informed Priyanka that he would be arriving at Chandigarh airport from Srinagar and then going to Sonipat. As asked by Priyanka, Naveen booked a room in a hotel in Zirakpur. Priyanka arrived at the hotel and left after about 30 minutes, citing low signal issues.

Later, Priyanka went to the Zirakpur police station and filed a complaint against him, alleging that Naveen behaved indecently with her.

Zirakpur police brought Naveen to the station. In settlement, Naveen transfered Rs 99,000 to her account. Priyanka later started blackmailing him, demanded another Rs 1 lakh from him.
