Haryana police arrest fraudulent Chandigarh agent who took money to send to New Zealand
KAITHAL : The economic cell of Kaithal police has arrested a travel agent of Chandigarh in connection with cheating a man on the pretext of sending him to New Zealand, said police. As per the complaint four accused took money from the victim in 2023 but didn’t send him even after two years.
The accused has been identified as Gurinder Singh alias Guri, a resident of Mandi Ahmedgarh of Sangrur district in Punjab, was arrested by the team of ASI Randhir Singh along with his team members of the economic cell.
The police spokesperson informed that Vikram Singh, a resident of Balbehra village of Cheeka town of Kaithal district, lodged a complaint stating that he sought to work abroad. For this, he made contact with the accused, Gurvinder Singh, Parvinder Singh, Jaskeerat Kaur, and Gagandeep Kaur in Chandigarh. The accused assured him of getting a work visa for New Zealand within 45 days. They settled on a fee of Rs 12.5 lakh. From May 2023 to September 2023, the accused took the money from him, showing him a joining letter from a company and promising to send him abroad. Vikram Singh mentioned that till now, the accused neither sent him abroad nor returned his money. When he demanded the money, the accused threatened to kill him. Based on this, a case was registered at the Cheeka police station, he said.
The accused Gurinder Singh was already incarcerated in Chandigarh Jail for another case. A production warrant was obtained through the court for his arrest in this matter. He was taken on production warrant, and a 4-day police remand was obtained from the court for further interrogation, said Praveen, police spokesperson of Kaithal police.
