Haryana got nothing in Budget: State Congress chief

Hisar: Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narendra Singh on Wednesday said that the Union Budget has completely disappointed Haryana and the country at large, calling it a "betrayal of the public". Interacting with the mediapersons in Sector 13, Hisar, Rao Narendra Singh said the post-budget fall in the stock market clearly reflected the lack of confidence among investors. "Neither the common people nor the industrial sector is satisfied with the govt's economic policies," he said, adding that the Congress would continue its fight to safeguard the rights of farmers, labourers, youth and the poor. District Congress Committee (Rural) Hisar president Brijlal Bahbalpuriya and Dharamveer Goyat were also present on the occasion.
Criticising the budget, Rao Narendra Singh said it failed to address key grassroots issues such as inflation, unemployment, farmers' distress and the weakening rural economy. "The budget offers no concrete employment opportunities for the youth and no effective roadmap to enhance farmers' income," he said. He further stated that no special package or meaningful provision was announced for an agriculture-dominated state like Haryana, leading to widespread disappointment among farmers, labourers and the rural population. "The govt also failed to provide any relief on the rising prices of fertilisers, seeds, diesel and agricultural equipment," he added. Referring to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), the Congress leader alleged that the Central Govt continuously tried to weaken the scheme. "MNREGA is not merely a welfare scheme, but a guarantee of a dignified livelihood for the poor and working class," he said. Sharing details about organisational restructuring, Rao Narendra Singh said that the Congress organisation in Haryana was being strengthened rapidly. Of the 33 districts in the state, executive committees were announced for 26 districts, while the remaining lists would be released soon. He explained that earlier, in many areas, two Assembly constituencies were merged under 1 block, which hampered organisational work. "This is now corrected by assigning a separate block to each Assembly constituency, ensuring clear responsibilities for workers and strengthening the organisation at the grassroots," he said. Rao Narendra Singh also announced that the list of block presidents would be released shortly. He added that continuous efforts were being made to strengthen the party up to the booth level so that Congress policies and programmes reached the masses directly.
