PATIALA: Adding to more trouble for the already trouble-torn BJP of Punjab, differences between a BJP councillor and a group of
SAD-BJP leaders spilled into public arena on Wednesday. Alleging lack of support and victimization by Patiala Akali mayor, the female BJP councillor has resigned from the party.
However, things took an ugly turn when district BJP leadership of Patiala came out in support of Patiala Akali mayor Ajitpal Singh Kohli.
asI have not got a proper grant for development of my ward. Mayor and other councillors have been harassing me for the past many months. My repeated complaints against SAD leaders did not yield any result, as leader of my own party did not support me. I have sent my resignation to senior BJP leaders,a? said Sarita Gera.
She levelled serious allegations not only against the Akali mayor, but against her own party district president Arun Gupta, state executive member of BJP and senior deputy mayor of Patiala Anil Bajaj. However, the mayor did not speak anything when contacted in the local corporation office, but BJP leaders held a press conference against Sarita Gera and spoke in favour of the mayor.
On the contrary, Anil Bajaj said, asSince our SAD-BJP government came to power, Gera got Rs 4.11 crore for development of her ward. The mayor never created any trouble for her. She is making baseless allegations against the mayor and other BJP leaders.a? Bajaj claimed that Gera had received the maximum grant for development.
"We recommended BJP high command to accept Geraas resignation. Her all allegations are baseless," said Arun Gupta.
