Hansi ‘honour killing’: Woman’s bro, cousin held, 2 guns seized

Hisar: A Hansi police team on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two youths who allegedly shot dead a couple, married two months ago, at Lala Hukam Chand Jain Park here Monday morning. The duo was arrested from Dariya Wala village in Jind district.Apart from recovering the two pistols used in the crime, the police recovered two more pistols from the possession of the arrested accused. One accused had earlier been arrested with an illegal weapon and was out on bail. He is also wanted by Karnal police in a case related to firing.Talking to the mediaperson, Hansi superintendent of police Maqsood Ahmed said the arrested accused had been identified as 21-year-old Sachin, a resident of Sultanpur village, and 21-year-old Rahul, a resident of Jind’s Dariya Wala village. Sachin is the younger brother of Meena, who was killed in the incident, while Rahul is her maternal uncle’s son, said the SP.“Sachin is 12th pass and was pursuing a computer course. He has no criminal history. Rahul is also 12th pass and was absconding from home for a long time. He had been arrested earlier with illegal weapons and was out on bail. Rahul is also wanted in a firing incident in Karnal,” said Maqsood Ahmed.The SP said the complainant had named a total of 11 people in the double murder. Both the accused will be interrogated and efforts will be made to find out whether any other member of the family is involved in this crime or not. If any other person is found involved, he will also be arrested, the officer added.Meena, a resident of Sultanpur village and Tejbir, a resident of Badala village, were in love and had married at Ghaziabad on April 22. Meena’s family was angry with the marriage. On May 1, the couple had approached the court for protection and the two were sent to a safe house. However, on May 4, the couple withdrew their petition and started living at Badala village.On the basis of preliminary investigation, the SP said Sachin was angry with the love marriage of his sister Meena and Tejbir, and after the marriage, he started talking to Meena on Instagram. First he persuaded his sister to leave Tejbir and come back home, but she did not agree, he said. On Monday, Meena and Tejbir were going to Delhi on a motorcycle when Sachin called them to the park on some pretext in a planned manner. He along with Rahul then killed both of them, said the SP.
