Gyan Bharatam Mission: Residents urged to share old manuscripts

Bathinda: Under Mission Gyan Bharatam, the Union ministry of cultural affairs has taken the onus of creating a digital repository of manuscripts of historical importance. For this, the govt has called upon the public to contribute by means of providing information about old manuscripts available with them.Meetings were convened in Bathinda and Faridkot districts on Wednesday to discuss Gyan Bharatam Mission with govt officers, historians, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and managements of religious places.It has been stated that people in possession of such manuscripts should log in to www.gyanbharatam.com or can download the Gyan Bharatam app and fill in details of the document in their possession. Once done, the officials from Gyan Bharatam will contact the person and ask him or her for further details. Bathinda deputy commissioner Rajesh Dhiman said that Bathinda district has a number of historical places, including Takht Damdama Sahib, rich history of Qila, Haji Rattan, Maiserkhana and many other places of historical importance where old documents and manuscripts could be present. The information about these manuscripts will be uploaded on the Gyan Bharatam app to create a comprehensive digital repository.Deputy commissioner Faridkot Punamdeep Kaur, urging residents to actively support the mission, said that if any rare manuscripts are available with individuals or in institutions such as libraries, Gurdwara Sahibs, temples, deras, or other places, the information should be shared promptly.
