Patiala: Karamjit Singh, educationist and vice-chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, has been given the additional charge of vice-chancellor of Punjabi University for six months or until a permanent appointment is made to this post.
Interestingly, Karamjit Singh was the founder VC of Jagat Guru Nanak Punjab State Open University, Patiala. He has 38 years of teaching experience. His publications include five textbooks, three edited books and 51 research papers. He was given the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023 for his significant contribution to the field of education.
He did his MCom from Panjab University and also obtained a PhD in finance. He served as the registrar of Panjab University, Chandigarh, from Sept 2018 to Sept 2020. Apart from being a syndicate member of the university, he worked in various administrative positions. He was also a member of UGC's expert committee.
Karamjit was the president of the Indian Accounting Association (2017-18) and the Indian Commerce Association. On October 14, 2017, he was honoured with the Best Business Academic Award in Jaipur.
