Gurdwara panel chief bows to Vij, row rises

Ambala: A video of the president of the management committee of Punjabi Gurdwara, Ambala Cantonment, bowing down towards Haryana home minister Anil Vij’s feet went viral on social media on Sunday. The video was recorded on Saturday in Morni Hills area during Vij's personal visit with his friends and party workers from Ambala.
In the video, Punjabi Gurdwara management committee president Bhupinder Singh Bindra is dancing to a song.When Bindra bows towards Vij’s feet, the minister gestures no and pulls back his feet.
A section of Ambala Sikh community expressed their anger after the video appeared on social media. Later, a group of them gathered to discuss the issue at the Punjabi Gurdwara but the main door of the place of worship was shut. They decided to lodge a complaint to Akal Takht against Bindra.
Clarifying, Bindra said on Sunday: “For the last 40 years, I have had family, political and social relations with Anil Vij Ji. We support him in every work. Yesterday after having food (in Morni), we were involved in entertainment and dance. The wording of the song was such that I bowed down before the mantri ji to respect and thank him. He (Vij) is my elder brother and political guru. I treat him as my father.”
