Guava scam: VB’s challan is 6,000 pages

Chandigarh: Punjab vigilance bureau on Saturday submitted the first challan before the sessions court in Mohali against five accused in the multi-crore guava tree compensation scam.The accused — Bhupinder Singh, Binder Singh, Vishal Bhandari, Bachitter Singh (patwari) and Mukesh Jindal — are in judicial custody. This comprehensive final report by the VB includes about 6,000 pages of relevant documentary record. However, the VB is carrying out further investigation against other accused.The accused had allegedly received huge compensations from GMADA by producing forged documents during the acquisition of land in connivance with the officials of horticultural and revenue departments from 2016 -2020.
