Governor visits ASI Lathar’s family, offers condolences, announces aid

Jind: Haryana governor Prof Asim Kumar Ghosh on Sunday visited Julana and met the bereaved family of deceased ASI Sandeep Kumar Lathar at their residence. He also interacted with the village panchayat.Lathar committed suicide by allegedly shooting himself with his service revolver on Oct 14 at Ladhaut village. The governor was accompanied by his wife Mitra Ghosh.Prof Ghosh extended his condolences to Sandeep Kumar Lathar's mother, Indrawati; his wife, Santosh; son Vihaan; daughter Roopak; and other family members. He urged them to remain strong in this difficult time.The governor also announced financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh to support the elder daughter of the late officer in preparing for her competitive examinations. Expressing deep grief, Prof Ghosh said: "As the head of the state, I feel as if I have lost two sons (referring to the late IPS Y Puran Kumar) from my own family."He said the untimely demise of Sandeep Lathar caused him personal pain, as officers like him were symbols of dedication and service to the state.The governor said with the passing of Sandeep Kumar Lathar, society lost a hardworking, honest, and dutiful officer, and that his death was an irreparable loss to the police department.He prayed to the Almighty for peace to the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family to bear the immense sorrow.It is noteworthy that Sandeep Kumar Lathar was serving as an ASI in the cyber cell of the Haryana Police and was posted in Rohtak.Additional deputy commissioner Vivek Arya, ASP Sonakshi Singh, BJP leader Captain Yogesh Bairagi, and several villagers were also present.MSID:: 124828165 413 |
