General elections won’t advance PU exams
CHANDIGARH: Clearing the confusion over examination schedule, Panjab University on Thursday decided not to advance annual and semester exams. With Lok Sabha elections expected in April and May, students of PU and its affiliated colleges in Punjab and Chandigarh had been a hassled lot, fearing a clash of their exam timetable with poll dates. What with teachers also being appointed presiding officers and educational institutes being converted into booths!
Talking to TOI, AK Bhandari, controller of examination, said, A proposed datesheet for the annual examination has been finalized for the time being.
1x1 polls
There will be a break during exams if election dates fall within that period. But under no condition will papers be advanced. On Wednesday, college principals had a meeting with the controller of examination to finalize the dates and ensure that over a lakh undergraduate and post-graduate students didnt suffer on account of polling.
While annual tests of undergraduate courses in colleges will commence in April as usual, those of post-graduate will begin in the last week of April or May first week, depending upon the courses. Compartment exam, too, will be held in March as per schedule.
