Gangsters ruling Haryana, people living in fear: Hooda
Rohtak: Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda attacked the BJP govt on the issue of law and order in Rohtak on Tuesday. He alleged that Haryana is witnessing a "rule of gangsters", and that daylight murders are becoming routine, creating an atmosphere of fear among the people.Referring to a central govt report, the former CM claimed that the state is declared one of the most unsafe states. "We will bring a proposal on law and order in the assembly session, raise it forcefully, and demand answers," he said. Hooda claimed that around 50 to 60 gangs are currently active in the state, and many of them openly claim responsibility for crimes after committing them.
Hooda alleged that doctors and traders are being forced to pay extortion money. He cited the recent murder case in Rohtak, pointing out that a killing near the IG office raises serious questions about the govt's claims of maintaining law and order. "This is a completely failed BJP govt. Industries are migrating out of the state, investments are not coming. If the state is to progress, law and order must be restored and people's confidence rebuilt," he said.Questioning the govt's tall claims, Hooda asked, "Which gangster has the govt actually arrested?" He said that murders and extortion demands are being made in the name of the Bishnoi gang or the Bhau gang, but the govt failed to produce any concrete results. "The reality is that people are living in fear and the govt is weak," he said. Hooda added that crime existed even before 2005 and operations were run from jails, but his govt managed to bring the situation under control. On the issue of social welfare, Hooda questioned the govt's contradictory statements. "The govt claims to have restored 70,000 pensions, while at the same time denying that any pensions were ever cut. If pensions were not cut, then which pensions are they restoring?" he asked. He also alleged that ration cards made before elections are now being cancelled. "This is nothing but vote theft. In Ambala alone, 54,000 ration cards are cancelled. Why were they made before elections and why are they being cut now?" he questioned.
