Friend booked in property dealer suicide case

Panchkula: Two days after a property consultant shot himself dead in his house in Sector 11, police on Wednesday booked his friend for abetment to suicide. Dilbag Singh (75), the father of victim Anand Singh Berwal, said Anand had spent his lifetime savings to purchase an apartment for his family in Peer Muchalla, Mohali. Singh alleged Anand’s friend Sant Ram, a resident of Busana village in Sonepat district, had fraudulently registered the apartment on his wife Neelam’s name. “On the day he ended his life, Anand called me and told me that Sant Ram was refusing to hand over the flat to him and he was very upset,” Police registered a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC against Sant Ram. On May 29, Anand was found dead with a gunshot wound on his bed on the first floor of his house in Sector 11. Stay informed with the latest business news from the Times of India.
