Panchkula: The food safety department of Panchkula has asked hotels and restaurants to get hygiene rating certificate and online training from the department, besides getting their food business registered with them. The exercise, conducted under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules 2011, is aimed at providing hygienic food to residents. A special number has also been issued for business owners to get assistance.
Food safety officer Dr Gaurav Sharma said that under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules 2011, food item manufacturers and sellers have to take training from Fostec, the training partner authorised by FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India). They also have to register their business under FSSAI.
He added that it was mandatory for hotel and restaurant operators to apply for hygiene rating certificate. Dr Gaurav added that the founder of Digital Skill Certification Institute could be contacted on his mobile number, 921683238 for information.
