Hisar: Flights from Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar to Ahmedabad and Jammu are likely to start soon, with the state pushing to fast-track pending clearances and infrastructure work.
The development emerged during a review meeting chaired by additional chief secretary (civil aviation) G Anupama at the airport complex on Wednesday, where officials briefed her on operational readiness and approvals in the pipeline.
Officials said the airport can handle aircraft movement at five-minute intervals, but key permissions — including approval for the CAT-II landing system for low-visibility operations — are still awaited. The ACS directed the civil aviation department to coordinate with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to expedite these clearances.
Currently, Hisar is connected to Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Ayodhya, with expansion plans underway.
Emphasising timelines, Anupama asked the public works, irrigation and public health departments, along with other agencies, to speed up pending construction.
She noted that air traffic is expected to rise significantly with the rollout of the first phase of the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster.
She also directed officials to improve internal transport within the airport complex for better passenger connectivity. After the meeting, she inspected ongoing work on the runway, terminal building and air traffic control tower.
