Fire department officials said they received the call at 3 am.

Fire station officer Tarsem Singh said the fire took place on the ground and first floor. Fifteen fire tenders controlled the blaze in a 10-hour long operation. The shops affected were “Gagan Handloom” owned by Rajiv Malik, a bakery at the rear of the showroom that was established in 1976 and a mobile shop along the showroom. The bakery owner claimed he suffered a loss of Rs 2.5 crore.

“The reason behind the fire is yet to be known. As a precautionary measure, we have deployed two fire tenders,” said Tarsem Singh.

Haryana assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta and mayor Kulbhushan Goyal visited the site, met showroom owners, and assured help. Gupta said, “Efforts will be made to provide financial assistance.” On the request of Market Welfare Association members, Gupta ordered to remove illegal boards and hoardings in front of showrooms in the sector.
