Fire at upcoming refinery project

Bathinda: A fire broke out at an upcoming petrochemical project in the Guru Gobind Singh refinery near Rama town here on Friday morning. The fire, which erupted near the quench oil pump of the cracker unit, was reportedly caused due to oil spillage. The refinery emergency team reached the spot and started operations to control the fire. The district administration and other authorities concerned were also informed about the incident. The spilled oil generated thick smoke, which was seen from far and created panic among the people. It took nearly three hours to control the fire. 4 child workers rescued in AsrAmritsar:National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Priyank Kanoongo on Friday rescued four children working at a government construction site. Priyank said he was in Amritsar to attend a conference and and aprroached the four children, in the age group of 12 to 14, after seeing them working at the site. “I found out that these children were trafficked from Sarhasa in Bihar and were working on a government site. I rescued them and now I am at the Civil Lines police station to register an FIR and to begin the rehabilitation process of the children,” he saidGGSMCH gets nod for 150 seats Bathinda: Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital (GGSMCH), Faridkot, has got approval for 25 more MBBS seats. With it, the total strength will increase to 150 seats. The college was started in 1973 with 50 seats. In 2013, the college got approval for 100 seats, which were further increased to 125 in year 2019. GGSMCH is the constituent college of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. Dr Avinish Kumar, vice-chancellor, BFUHS cum DRME Punjab, said that the administration of the University and college will be benefitted immensly with increase in number of MBBS seats.
