BATHINDA: Fire broke out at outer
part of amunition depot at Bathinda
cantonment early Thursday. No loss of life was reported due to fire. Though exact reason of fire could not be known but as per sources incident took place due to short circuit.
The eyewitnesses said that smoke was witnessed at around 5.10 a.m in the morning and some fire tenders from military station rushed to the place where fire had broken out. The smoke was visible from a distance on Mansa road. The fire was doused in over one hour. The army authorities declined to divulge any details.
Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Diprava Lakra told Times of India that as per army authorities fire seems to have broken out due to short circuit which was controlled in little over an hour. There was no report of any loss of life and as far as the financial or other losses are concerned, the army authorities will tell after assessing the complete situation".
