AMBALA: The police have registered an FIR against 8 persons, including tehsildar of Ambala city for registering a plot fraudulently. The accused, including a Ambala-based property dealer allegedly sold the property of a woman Mala Devi, who is wife of a Punjab police officer, unfairly.
After an inquiry, the police on Saturday booked tehsildar of Ambala city, Jagdish Sharma, a Panchkula based property dealer Vijay Kumar, an Ambala based property dealer Mukhesh Kumar and five others, said SHO city police station, Bharat Singh.

According to the police investigation, property dealer Mukesh Kumar planned to sell her (Mala Devi) 26 kanal land situated on Ambala-Jalandhar road. He persuaded a woman to play the role of Mala Devi. He took the woman to the tehsil office to sell Mala Devi's plot situated on GT Road (Ambala-Jalandhar road) near Devi Nagar village. Thereafter, the accused approached the tehsildar Jagdish Sharma, who fixed May 6 to register the plot. And the registering process was completed on the same date. Land was sold to Vijay Kumar, Panchkula based property for Rs 29 lakh.
According to Mala Devi, she immediately approached the Ambala tehsil office as soon as she came to know about the fraud. On the other hand, tesildar Jagdish Sharma has claimed that he had nothing to do with the matter. "A woman named Mala Devi had approached me alleging that her property was sold off fraudulently and I had conveyed the report to SDM, Mukesh Ahuja," Sharma told The TOI.
