KARNAL: A 15-year-old dalit girl was allegedly killed for "honour" by her father and brother after they caught her with a village youth.
The incident happened in a village of Karnal district on Thursday, but the fact that it was a case of honour killing came out during police investigations.
According to the sources, the girl was first strangulated and then hanged from a ceiling fan to make it look like a suicide.

Her father Madan and brother Sonu have been arrested under murder charges, said DSP, Assandh (Karnal) Baljinder Singh. They would be produced in court on Monday.
Initially, the girl's family had filed a complaint against Bablu, a dalit youth living in the same neighbourhood, for trying to sexually abuse her. The father-son duo had reportedly told the police that she had been caught in a compromising position with the boy and ended her life due to the subsequent humiliation faced by the family. The boy was then rounded up. However, as the investigations progressed, police became suspicious of the nature of injury marks on the body of the girl. Clues from the crime scene also suggested murder before hanging.
The post-mortem examination of the girl has confirmed that she had died before being hanged.
The villagers, thought, are tight-lipped about the killing.
