Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal addresses kisan panchayat at Barnala village
Bathinda: A day after ending his 131-day-long fast, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal on Monday addressed a kisan panchayat at Dhanaula village in Barnala district.Dallewal reiterated his resolve to fight for the realisation of various demands of the farmers, particularly the legal right on the minimum support price as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.Dallewal said he would reach people across Punjab and various other states to mobilise them for a national-level struggle. The central govt can be forced to concede our demands by building a strong struggle, and for this, I need to visit various places and prevail upon the farmers to come to a common platform, he added.A large number of farmers assembled at Dhanaula and announced their wholehearted support for the cause espoused by Dallewal and the farm forums Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha. After ending his fast, Dallewal was admitted to a hospital in Khanna Sunday evening, from where he left for Dhanaula Monday morning. After addressing the kisan panchayat, Dallewal felt uneasy due to stomach pain and was admitted to a private hospital in Barnala.Doctors, however, said such complications were common after remaining on fast for such a long time.
