BATHINDA: On Republic Day, farmer forums Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), and Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) held tractor marches to support their various demands. The farmer activists took part in marches across Punjab, with similar protests in Haryana and Rajasthan.
SKM NP and KMM parked tractors at the residences and offices of BJP leaders, silos, and shopping malls after marching from 12pm to 1.30 pm.
SKM, meanwhile, conducted marches in villages and towns for over three hours. Republic Day was chosen for the action to attract wider attention.
The farmers displayed unique tractors, including one with a 7-foot high tyre used for spraying pesticides, while others featured very wide tractors. In some areas, women farmer activists also participated, including in the village of Sandhu Kalan in Barnala district. Tractors were also parked on the road leading to the residence of ex-chief minister captain Amarinder Singh in Patiala.
Meanwhile, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's fast unto death continued on its 62nd day. He has vowed not to end the fast until their demands are met.
