NEW DELHI: A low-intensity explosion occurred outside a bar-cum-lounge in Chandigarh’s Sector 26 early on Tuesday, causing damage to the establishment's glass windows.

Police sources confirmed the incident and said a team had arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

A forensic team was called to collect samples from the site to assist in the probe, a police official stated.

Chandigarh deputy superintendent of police, Dilbag Singh Dhaliwal, stated that the police received a call around 3.25am reporting a "personal problem" at the location. Upon arrival, officers found broken glass at the scene. "At the moment, we cannot provide further details," Dhaliwal said. "The forensic team has arrived, but we have not received any reports yet. We are in the early stages of the investigation."

An employee of the restaurant, Pooran, told the media that the explosion occurred at approximately 3.15am when the establishment was closed. He confirmed that no one was injured as the restaurant was empty, with only 7-8 workers present at the time. "We heard a loud explosion, and upon checking, we found that the door's glass was shattered," Pooran said, adding that CCTV cameras were not operational.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Authorities are working to determine the cause and nature of the explosion.
