Experts take part in cardiac echo workshop

CHANDIGARH: The annual perioperative and critical care echo cardiography workshop, organised by the Society of Transesophageal

Echocardiography

and department of anaesthesia and intensive care, PGI concluded on Sunday. The

workshop

included a series of narrative lectures and promoted knowledge sharing among the experts.

Research work performed at AIIMS, New Delhi and PGI were scrutinised in the competitive section. Dr Amita Sharma’s research work from AIIMS on non-invasive identification of pulmonary hypertension, a condition affecting the blood flow in the lungs, won the first prize. Dr Krishna Prasad from PGI and Dr Sandeep Joshi, AIIMS won the second and third prizes respectively for their research work. The competitive section was followed by lectures on echocardiography in valve diseases and in children undergoing

cardiac

surgery.

The workshop focused on 3D echocardiography and ended with evaluation and certification to the participants. On the sidelines of the workshop, a peripheral nerve block workshop on cadavers was conducted for trainees of the institute.
