'Exhausted' after tries, student gets marks
CHANDIGARH: The Panjab University has awarded grace marks to an MBA student who failed to pass an exam thrice. The university wanted that at least this time the student should be able to get the MBA degree.
It was another fact that the student happened to be a relation of a PU professor and the insiders are asking whether that had any link with his getting grace marks.
1x1 polls

The university, it seemed, was moved by the student's plea that he was too exhausted to take the exam for the fourth time.
It was here that the PU syndicate stepped in in July 2004 and s howed mercy. It decided that the student be awarded grace marks so that he could pass.
The office note attached with the syndicate agenda had recommended awarding the average of the marks he had secured in the two papers he cleared in 1999.
The recommendation of the Board of Control to only give a special reappear chance to him was ignored by the office as well as the syndicate while taking the decision.
Vice chancellor Prof KN Pathak, when contacted, said, "The decision was taken by the syndicate unanimously and none of the members recorded their dissent."
Giving an explanation as to why the agenda was brought to the syndicate to give average marks to the student ignoring the recommendation of the BoC, the VC said, "This can be checked from the controller of examinations who made the agenda."
According to university regulations all items in the syndicate agenda are made as per the VC's directions.
