Panchkula: A vigilance team arrested an exemptee assistant sub-inspector (EASI) of Sector 5 police station from Majri chowk who was allegedly taking bribe of Rs 3,000 from a resident of Indira Colony, Sector 17. According to cops, EASI Surender Kumar of Sector 5 demanded Rs 3,000 as bribe from Jodh Singh, a resident of Indira Colony, to settle his case.
Jodh Singh was booked by cops 15 days ago for supplying heroin and EASI Surender Kumar was investigation officer in the case, and had recently come to Panchkula on temporary basis from Ambala.
Surender was demanding Rs 3,000 as bribe to settle his case and Singh moved to vigilance office and filed a complaint with the vigilance office and narrated the matter to deputy superintendent of police and soon after the complaint, DSP along with his team made a plan and on Wednesday night, DSP (vigilance) Suresh Kumar caught EASI red-handed at Majri chowk when he was receiving the bribe money from the victim. Deputy commissioner of police issued suspension orders of EASI with immediate effect and EASI is under custody of vigilance team for further inquiry.
