Ex-min son resigns from SAD (Punar Surjit), takes on Giani Harpreet
Bathinda: Former minister Tota Singh's son Barjinder Singh Brar on Saturday resigned from Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) while levelling allegations against party president Giani Harpreet Singh and MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali, accusing them of acting on the directions of central agencies. Barjinder has also ‘repented' his decision to leave Shiromani Akali Dal and join SAD (Punar Surjit). Brar had unsuccessfully contested twice as Shiromani Akali Dal nominee from Moga Assembly constituency in 2017 and 2022.Before Barjinder Brar, his father Tota Singh was contesting from Moga, and he vacated the Moga seat for his son and shifted to Dharmkot in 2012. But the party fielded Joginder Pal Jain from Moga, and later Brar was fielded in 2017 and 2022. In a social media post, he wrote, "I resign from the SAD (Punar Surjit) with a heavy heart, after I found out that Giani Harpreet Singh and Manpreet Ayali are misleading the path and Punjab. They mad people emotional in the name of Akal Takht." He stated that the central agencies and AAP govt in Punjab were part of this conspiracy, who used every trick to weaken the Panth and the SAD. "Ayalis keeps mum, and speaks against the Akali Dal only for his business interests.
On the other hand, Giani Harpreet Singh used everything to demolish the Shiromani Akali Dal while working on the directions of Delhi." Ayali, while refuting the allegations, said, "Making accusations in politics is easy, but staying firm for truth is not easy. I reiterate that I will keep on working for the welfare of the qaum as per the tenets of Akal Takht. While treading the path of truth, some close ones leave, but our resolve is firm." Giani Harpreet Singh was not available for comments. MSID: 130017606 413 |
