The 33-year-old son of a retired DSP of Chandigarh police was injured in an accidental firing at his house in Progressive Society, Sector 49, on Saturday.

CHANDIGARH: The 33-year-old son of a retired DSP of Chandigarh police was injured in an accidental firing at his house in Progressive Society, Sector 49, on Saturday. Amit Singh Thakur is admitted to a private hospital in Mohali where his condition is stated to be stable.
Police said, "The revolver went off when Amit was closing the door while holding it around 9.30am.

The bullet hit his right leg."
Cops have seized his .32 bore licenced revolver.
Ruling out any foul play, SHO of Sector 34 police station inspector Baljeet Singh said the documents related to the weapon have been verified.
Sources in police said Amit's armed licence was renewed recently.
Amit runs a dairy farm near Sirhind, Punjab.
Sandal Singh Thakur, Amit's father, had retired from Chandigarh police some years ago. He was also posted at Sector 30 CBI office.
A DDR has been lodged at Sector 34 police station.
