Ex-DSP’s son held in bank robbery case
Jalandhar: The Jalandhar commissionerate police have arrested the son of a retired DSP of Punjab Police in connection with a robbery of over Rs 6 lakh at gunpoint from a local branch of Punjab National Bank on Monday afternoon.Commissioner of police Dhanpreet Kaur said as police teams worked quickly, they arrested accused Simranjit Singh while efforts were on to nab the second accused. The police also recovered a revolver and three cartridges along with a part of the booty. The CCTV footage showed that two robbers, with their faces covered, had come on a scooter and looted the cash.Police officials revealed that Simranjit, in his mid-30s, was the son of retired DSP Harbhajan Singh, who died a couple of years ago.
