CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief secretary Vini Mahajan has issued directions to the finance department to ensure that frontline workers of the health and family welfare department, medical education department as well as the rural development department continue to get their salaries in time.
Mahajan wrote in a tweet, “Have issued directions that salaries of health staff of dept of health, medical education and rural development shall not be stopped or delayed.
They are at the frontline in this war against Covid and we salute them for their efforts.”
Earlier this month, principal secretary of the health and family welfare department Hussan Lal had written to finance department principal secretary K A P Sinha, apprising him that the treasury offices had not released salaries to doctors and other health officials in some districts of the state.
“It has been brought to my notice that the salaries for the month of July of Group-A and Group-B officers/ officials posted in the directorate of health and family welfare, Punjab, have not been released by the district treasury office, Punjab, Chandigarh. As you are aware that in view of the ongoing pandemic disease, the medical staff is working day and night and putting all their efforts in tackling the pandemic,” read the letter written by the principal secretary, health.
