JIND: Police have booked several persons for allegedly attacking the convoy of former deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala and Member of Parliament Chandrashekhar Azad in the Uchana Kalan segment of Jind district late Monday night.
The incident occurred in Uchana Kalan while Dushyant Chautala and Chandrashekhar Azad, chief of the Azad Samaj Party (ASP), were conducting a roadshow to seek public support. Police have booked several individuals, including one identified person, in connection with the alleged attack.
Chandrashekhar Azad has been actively campaigning alongside Dushyant Chautala, and the attack on their convoy is being viewed as a disturbing attempt to disrupt the democratic process.
Police are investigating the incident and have assured swift action against those responsible. The motives behind the attack remain unclear. The last vehicle in the convoy was targeted, but no one was inside at the time. Some miscreants pelted stones at the vehicle, breaking the windshield. "Action is being taken accordingly," said the police.
Dushyant Chautala strongly condemned the incident, stating that politically motivated individuals aim not only to disrupt the electoral atmosphere in Uchana but also to silence the voices of farmers and laborers. He asserted that the attack on his convoy, which included ASP leader and MP Chandrashekhar Azad during the roadshow, is clear evidence of this intent.
He emphasised that the people of Uchana are with the alliance, offering full support and affection, and on October 5, the public will respond strongly to these antisocial elements through their votes. Chautala affirmed that they will neither be intimidated nor yield. Speaking to the media, he mentioned that the JJP has written to the Election Commission and the administration to ensure peaceful elections in Uchana.
On Tuesday, Dushyant Chautala campaigned in several villages, including Dhanakheri, Hasanpur, Alewa, Bighana, Dudana, Bulla Kheri, and Pega, appealing for votes. He announced that on Wednesday, the JJP-ASP will hold a public rally in the old grain market of Uchana, which he claimed would be historic. He mentioned that JJP President Ajay Singh Chautala, ASP leader Chandrashekhar Azad, and other senior alliance leaders will attend.
Chautala further stated that the people of Haryana are seeking change, and in this period of transition, the public is strongly backing the JJP-ASP alliance. He highlighted that the JJP has demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of all sections of society and promised that if the JJP-ASP alliance forms the government, they will first implement a pension of ₹5,100 for the elderly, followed by fulfilling every promise in their manifesto to lead the state on the path of progress.
