Drug trafficking cartel busted in Tarn Taran, 2 held, contraband seized

Tarn Taran: The police here claimed to have dismantled a drug trafficking cartel with the arrest of two drug smugglers and recovery of 6 kg of heroin from their possession.Superintendent of police, Tarn Taran, Abhimanyu Rana on Sunday informed that those arrested were identified as Hardeep Singh alias Deep and Harjeet Singh, both residents of Thathi Sohal village, Tarn Taran.Apart from recovering heroin, police teams also impounded their car, which was being used for the purpose of drug smuggling, he said.The preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested persons were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers, identified as Billa and Shah, who delivered consignments of drugs from across the border. The probe revealed that consignments were being dropped with the help of drones, he added.Rana said further investigations were ongoing, and more arrests and recoveries were likely in the coming days. He said efforts were being made to uncover the entire network of suppliers, dealers, and buyers, as well as to ascertain the total quantity of drugs received by the arrested accused so far.He further said based on reliable inputs about the alleged involvement of Hardeep and Harjeet in drug smuggling, a police team from the CIA staff, Tarn Taran, conducted a targeted operation.
