Driving at 113 km/hr, youth hits rotary, dies

A 22-year-old student, Satinder Singh, lost his life when his rashly driven car hit the roundabout of sectors 39-40-45-46 on Thursday night. According to cops, the the victim was on a visit from Australia.

CHANDIGARH: A 22-year-old student, Satinder Singh, lost his life when his rashly driven car hit the roundabout of sectors 39-40-45-46 on Thursday night. According to cops, the the victim was on a visit from Australia.
They added that the car was being driven at a high speed. The boy was rushed to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector 16 and the doctors there had declared him brought dead.
SHO of PS-39, Inspector Charanjeet Singh, said, ‘‘The speedometer of the car was stuck at 113km per hour, which means that the boy was over speeding.

Photographs and video clippings of the speedometer were made.’’
Satinder’s family members said that he was on his way home from Jhampura village in Mohali, after attending a party. Raghbir Singh, father of the youth and a driver with the municipal corporation, said, ‘‘My boy was engaged to be married 20 days ago. He was to return to Australia on March 5.’’ Traffic cops said that no light reflectors and other necessary equipment were installed on the roundabout.
Satinder is survived by his parents and one younger brother and his body was handed over to his family after post-mortem on Friday.
