Mohali: A 33-year-old man committed suicide after being harassed by his mother-in-law and wife in Derabassi late on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Arora, 33, who works in a private company at Derabassi. Originally from Kurkshetra, he had been living in a rented accomodation in Mohali.
The accused were identified as Viki Rani, wife of the deceased, mother-in-law Raj Rani and Anjali, her sister-in-law. They are all residents of Gulabgarh, Derabassi.
Deepak inhaled a poisonous substance. He left a suicide note saying he took the extreme step after being repeatedly harassed by his wife and in-laws. The note also said Raj Rani took his wife to the native village for another marriage despite knowing that the couple have a four-year-old son.
Deepak consumed poison late in the evening when he was alone and was rushed to GMCH-32 for treatment by neighbours, who also informed the police. He succumbed late at night and a case was registered against the three accused under section 306 of the IPC. So far no one has been arrested.
