CHANDIGARH: Dogs of distinct breeds participated and showcased their characteristic features in the annual dog show at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, on Sunday.
Chandigarh Kennel Club organized its 62nd & 63rd All Breed Championship show. Breeds ranging from Terriers to Pointers and Setters participated in it.
The show witnessed the International Judge panel including Frances Darling from Australia and Simon Sim from Philippines.
The dog show had 291 entries this time in 10 groups. Some uncommon breeds that were introduced for the first time in the show were "Dogo Argentino", "Samoyed" -- a Siberian dog. Toy dogs that comprised "Rough Collies" and "Standard Poodle" is rarely seen in such shows. Standard Poodle had won "Best of Group" award and belonged to Chennai-based Vijay Prabhakar .
"This dog was imported from Sweden and is nearly 58cm in height. These dogs require extra care and grooming sessions as they have thick hairy body. The dog is already a champion among 200 dogs competing in Russia, India, Thailand and Sweden," he said.
Moreover, other breeds like Fox Terrier and Afghan hound which is a Royal Breed visited the show for first time. Tibetan Mastiff, imported from China, is the most expensive dog commonly known as "Dog with Lion's blood" because it is known to kill leopards.
