DHARAMSALA: A 34-year-old pregnant woman died at Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College here on Thursday due to the alleged negligence of doctors, triggering protests by residents and relatives of the deceased.
While medical superintendent P S Dogra has ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter, to be headed by deputy director, health department, DC Srikant Baldi has called for a magisterial probe by the Dharamsala SDM.
Hem Lata, a resident of Tiara village, about 20 km from here, was brought to the hospital by her husband for delivery on Wednesday afternoon. Her ultrasound was conducted, which revealed that her baby had died in the womb.
However, doctors reportedly told Hem Lata''s husband that the patient could survive for a week with a dead baby in the womb and there was no need for an operation.
