Doctor arrested for conducting sex determination tests

CHANDIGARH: A doctor, owner of a nursing home at Dabwali in Haryana, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly conducting sex determination tests at his clinic.
A case under provisions of the PNDT Act, 1994 was registered against Dr Pawan Kumar Singla, owner of Singla Nursing Home, Gol Bazaar, Dabwali, a Haryana government release said here.
Singla has been arrested by the police.Various violations of the Act were detected during a raid at his nursing home by a team consisting of deputy civil surgeon, a drug control officer, besides others, the release said.
Acting on a tip-off, the team raided the nursing home and found illegal use of pre-natal diagnostic technique for carrying out sex determination tests, it added.
