CHANDIGARH: With just a day left for the selection of PGI's new director, its faculty association called an emergency general body meeting on Tuesday. The agenda was to reiterate that no outsider should be made the director and a copy of this demand letter was sent to the Union health minister. The association also warned of mass exodus if these issues were not paid heed to.
The faculty unanimously stated that the appointment of the new director must be done from the PGI faculty as only they were aware of the minor problems of the institute. ''This is extremely demoralizing for the existing faculty and can lead to mass exodus of senior faculty members from the institute,'' warned Dr Virendra Singh, the president of association.
The association also emphasized that those who were above 60 must be preferred for the post.
