As the court resumed the hearing, police opposed the move saying that accused has not turned up to join the investigation despite several opportunities.
"Police has informed through counsel that Poonawalla had taken the dates twice to join the investigation but he never turned up, hence court has asked him to report before the police," said Puneet Arora, an ambala resident, complainant of the case.

Poonawalla is the second such accused of having allegedly shown disrespect to Jain seer Tarun Sagar maharaj. Cause of action arose when Tarun Sagar maharaj addressed a special sitting of MLAs in Haryana assembly on August 25 last year.
Singer Vishal Dadlani and Tehseen Poonawalla had gone vocal against the seer. Following this a case was registered against the duo at Ambala cantt police station. Dadlani had tendered an unconditional apology before the seer and had joined the investigation. He has been given a conditional bail.
While Poonawalla was yet to join the probe as he had been availing legal remedies for quashing of FIR. Since Poonawalla failed to get the relief, he moved the Sessions court, said the complainant.
