Mohali: Delhi Zoo team visited Chhatbir Zoo to study its scientific animal care module. Seven zoo staff members from National Zoological Park, Delhi, including six animal keepers led by Dr
Manoj Kumar, curator (education) visited the zoo, said zoo field director Kalpana K.
She added that the visit was aimed at improving the knowledge, skill and attitude of animal keepers and develop ideas promoting better animal management system and environment in a zoo.
Harpal Singh, zoo education officer and expert zoo keeper of Chhatbir zoo interacted with the Delhi zoo team and shared ideas.
A team of forest officers from across India also visited Chhatbir Zoo as part of their coursework for the postgraduate diploma in advanced wildlife management of the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. The team was joined by faculty members of the institute, L Kawlni and S Dutta.
They visited the zoo exhibits and interacted with the management and staff to learn about various aspects of zoo management. The team was briefed about ex-situ conservation and management practices in Chhatbir zoo by Kalpana K. tnn
