Delhi smog continues to delay Shatabdi

MOHALI: Smog at the Delhi railway station has delayed

Shatabdi Express

for four days in the city.

On Friday night,

Kalka-Shatabdi Express

(12005), scheduled to arrive at 8.40 pm, reached Chandigarh around 1am. Similarly, Chandigarh-Shatabdi Express (12045), with a scheduled arrival of 10.45 pm on Friday, reached late by 34 minutes at 11.19 pm. On Saturday, Kalka-Shatabdi Express (12011) scheduled to arrive at 11.05 am reached 1.30 hours late at 12:35 pm.

Similarly, Una-New Delhi Jan

Shatabdi

Express reached Chandigarh late by over 12 hours.

A total of 15 trains arrived late in Chandigarh on Saturday.

Kalka Mail

reached Chandigarh 16 hours late at 7.50 pm on Friday against the scheduled arrival of 3 am. Similarly, Unchahar Express running between Lucknow-Chandigarh reached over 15 hours late,

Una-Delhi Jan Shatabdi

by over 12 hours and Gorakhpur Express by 10.17 hours late.

Barmer Express, Sadbhawna Express, Lucknow-Chandigarh Express are other trains which reached over 7 hours late in Chandigarh.

Officials at the Chandigarh railway station said the long distance trains have been running late for last four days. The dense smog cover at Delhi has delayed all the trains, said an official.

On the other hand, there was not much change in flight timings on Saturday. An airport spokesperson said only four flights landed late. Indigo and Jet Airways/KLM from Mumbai landed 42 minutes and 35 minutes late, respectively, whereas Jet Airways and SpiceJet from New Delhi landed 15 and 24 minutes late, respectively.
