LUDHIANA: Mystery continues to shroud the death of a scrap dealer whose body was cremated on Saturday. The victim, Parmod Kumar of Parbhat Nagar under division no. 6 police station, had gone missing since November 1 under mysterious circumstances when he left for his office. His body was recovered from Dabwali canal near Bathinda on Friday. What's adding to the mystery is the fact that the victim's family has not lodged any FIR until now.
Dalip Bedi, incharge of Sherpur police post, said no one from the family of the deceased had approached them. "We will register a case only when we get a complaint from the victim's family," he added.
When Kumar's scooter (PB-10AL-6472) was recovered from a cycle stand at Giaspura, it had increased tension of the family members. Police found the victim's address from his license, and the family brought the dead body to city after postmortem in Rohtak hospital. Relatives of the deceased claimed that Parmod did not have any problems — be it financial or personal — and he had established his business very well in the last five years after resigning from a local private factory. "He did not seem to have any kind of problem. But we don't know whether it's a suicide or a murder," said Suresh Kumar, brother-in-law of the deceased.
