RK Rao was the only officer from civil administration to visit the family of slain BRO officer Vijay Raj Lamba.
CHANDIGARH: UT deputy commissioner RK Rao was the only officer from civil administration to visit the family of slain Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officer Vijay Raj Lamba at their Sector 43 residence here on Sunday. Rao, during his one-hour stay with the family, assured that he would move the administration to get all possible help. Reaching Lamba's home at around 1 pm, Rao spoke to all the members personally and tried to consoled them. Lamba's brother-in-law, Rakesh Sareen, a businessman from Ludhiana, sought Rao's help in bringing an adequate compensation for the family through the administration.
"Since the breadwinner of the family was killed by militants, now the responsibility to educate the other two children falls on the shoulders of my sister, Veena. She should be financially independent and stable to look after them," said Sareen. Listening to the family members attentively, Rao promised to take up the matter with the administration immediately. While Lamba's first son Kuldeep works in London and is settled there with his family, his daughter Deepika and youngest son Honey had just appeared of their plus two and Class X exams this year.
