MOHALI: After a span of 25 days,
Dappar toll plaza
on Chandigarh-Ambala expressway is all set to resume operations from Monday.
Toll
plaza officials said the decision comes after the go-ahead from
National Highways Authority of India
(NHAI). Toll plaza operations have been closed since March 26.
“No changes have been made in user charges. There will only be movement of
vehicles
carrying essential commodities. We will observe traffic movement on the first day and then decide how many lanes should be kept operational,” said an official at the toll plaza. He said opening all the lanes and calling all employees would not be appropriate.
The day PM Narendra Modi imposed 'janata curfew', traffic movement dipped by 92%. Going by data provided by officials, 38,000 vehicles used to pass through the toll plaza on a daily basis before the lockdown. Deepak Arora, corporate relation officer, Dappar Toll Plaza said, “As the operations will begin, we have sanitised the entire toll plaza.”
