Vijay Singh Dahiya knew Poonam Chopra for over 2 years

CHANDIGARH: Vijay Singh Dahiya, an accused IAS officer involved in the cash-for-clearing-bills scam, was known to Poonam Chopra (now in judicial custody) for over two years. To make the case stronger, the sleuths from Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had taken Chopra to a cafe in Sector 8, Chandigarh, where the two had decided to meet for handing over of bribe money.

All this was revealed in the reply submitted by the ACB while opposing the application for anticipatory bail moved by Dahiya in the court of additional districts and sessions judge Sunil Kumar. It has not only given the complete record with timeline of the conversation of Chopra and Dahiya, but also claimed that Rs 13 lakh, which Dahiya is learned to have got through a functionary of Haryana Skills Development Mission, is yet to be recovered.

Besides WhatsApp messages between Chopra and Dahiya, the ACB has procured the records of the café, like CCTV footage and bills of the restaurant, to establish that the two met there for one hour. According to information, Dahiya was taken to ACB office in Panchkula for further interrogation.
