Daduwal for UAPA against those behind sacrilege incidents
Bathinda: Former president of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) Baljit Singh Daduwal met Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Monday and raised various issues concerning the community. He urged the CM to book all those involved in cases of sacrilege under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He also sought withdrawal of NSA against the Sikhs lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail.Daduwal urged the CM to write to the Centre for holding the SGPC elections. Talking to TOI, he said, “I also urged the chief minister to write to the Centre for the release of all those people who had completed their sentences but are still languishing in various jails of the country, including the likes of Devinderpal Singh Bhullar. I also brought into his notice that the rights of telecast of kirtan from Darbar Sahib expire in July and the link of telecast should be made open to all by not limiting the rights of telecast to a single TV channel.” Daduwal said the incidents involving of attack on a sacrilege accused at Gurdwara Kotwali Sahib in Morinda and the killing of a woman allegedly consuming liquor at a Patiala gurdwara were due to emotions running high over the acts of sacrilege.
