AMRITSAR: Preventive staff of customs department recovered about 3 kilogrammes opium from Khasa, a township near the Indo-Pak border on Thursday informed P S Sodhi, additional commissioner, customs . The drug peddler Balkar Singh was arrested.
Sodhi informed that reacting on a specific information the preventive staff of Customs intercepted Balkar Singh at Khasa Bazar and recovered 2.800 kilogramme opium from his possession.

He said following the information that few residents of border areas were involved in drug trafficking they had alerted their staff.
This is the third case of narcotics booked by customs in the last two months.
Earlier a week ago a drug dealer Sukhbir Singh was apprehended with 180 gram of heroine.
