Chandigarh: Sahil Nehara from Chandigarh University bagged the silver medal in the 75 kg weight category of Best Physique Championship at the All India Inter-University Weightlifting and Best Physique Championship held here on Thursday.
Besides Sahil, Saravaran B from Periyar University, Salem,
Tamil Nadu bagged the first position, while Manu Krishna from the MGU Kottyam University, Kerala settled for the third spot.
The 80 kg weight category also witnessed close contests from bodybuilders of different universities. Shaikh Wasim from Savitribai Phule University, Pune took the top spot, followed by Akshay Shravan from University of Pune and LEO C.F from University of Calicut, Kerala, respectively. In the 85 kg weight category, Ankush Ghanbahadur from SGB Amravati University, Maharashtra, C.Emaya Bharathi from Anna University, Chennai and A. Vignesh from University of Madras, completed the top three.
In weightlifting, Charu Pesi from Prof. Rajendra Singh University, Prayagraj, U.P bagged the gold medal by lifting a total weight of 249 kg (Snatch: 109 kg, Clean & Jerk 140 kg) in the 61 kg category. Mahajor Govind Sunil from KBCNM University Jalgaon, Maharashtra took the silver by lifting 245 kg (Snatch: 105 kg, Clean & Jerk: 140 kg). Sagar Madar from LPU, Phagwara settled for the bronze by lifting 244 kg (Snatch: 107 kg, Clean & Jerk: 137 kg).
Among the 84 lifters who took part in the 67 kg category, Subhash Lahre from Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Chattisgarh bagged the gold by lifting 267 kg (Snatch: 116 kg, Clean & Jerk: 151 kg) while Jagdish Nahak from Berhampur University, took the silver with a total lift of 263 kg (Snatch: 119 kg Clean & Jerk: 144 kg). Mahajan Abhishek from KBCNM University Jalgaon, bagged bronze with 263 kg (Snatch: 115 kg, Clean & Jerk: 148 kg).
